Class Information

Tiny Tots Ballet  
  Tiny Tots ballet is for children aged 2 - 4 years, and is an introductory class into ballet technique and movement to music. The RAD syllabus is specially designed to nurture your child's development and confidence in a fun and exciting range of exercises and routines.
 
  For children aged 4 yrs upwards, these entry grades begin to offer a structured series of exercises which have been devised by the RAD to provide a strong foundation for any future dance training. The syllabus is delivered in a manner which is appropriate and relevant to young children today and it is fun to do. Pre-Primary and Primary ballet will help to develop children’s physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality.

Entry Examinations are available for those children who are ready to take them.
 
 

Continuing on from the entry level grades, our early grade classes (Gr 1 - 3) carry on the tailored development in technique, creativity and stamina.

Examinations are available at the discretion of the dance teacher, for those children wishing to take them. All RAD graded examination qualifications are accredited by QCA, DELLS and CCEA and can be included in a candidates' Records of Achievement.

 
 

A more complex and technical syllabus is instructed, with emphasis on strength, musicality, poise and stamina.

Pre-pointe and pointe work is introduced to the exercises at these grades.

This class is open to all students aged 10 and above and focusses on developing the dancers strength, physique, stamina and flexibilty.

Working through a series of excercises, the class contains aerobic training, strengthening exercises for upper and lower body, and a specially formulated limbering and stretch programme, to allow the dancer to safely develop their movement range and flexibilty.

This class is compulsory for all students in the senior jazz class.

 

Senior Jazz  
  Senior Jazz is a syllabus free class which gives the dancer a solid foundation in jazz technique. A number of different styles of Jazz dance are introduced through specialised "study" modules throughout the academic year and students have the opportunity to take part in regular performances and charity events.
 
  This class is a fusion of traditional tap and urban movement styles. There are two levels available at the school: offering a beginners class for younger students with some knowledge of the basic fundamentals, and a senior class for those with a solid foundation in technique and ability.
 
 

Open to boys and girls aged 6 - 10 years, this class introduces the basic principles of street dance and through a series of structured exercises and choreographed routines builds a solid base from which the student can progress with strength, style and attitude.

The class includes introductory training in areas such as, locking, popping, breakdance and hip hop. Music is drawn from a wide repertoire of artists, from Michael Jackson, James Brown, to Mylee Cyrus.

 
 

For boys and girls aged 11 - 14 years, the training is designed in a way for the students to further develop a strong technique and style to their movement range whilst maintaining a fun and energetic feel to every lesson.

Children in this age group who are new to street dance are very welcome. All you need for this class is enthusiasm.....and a bottle of water!

 
 

For those students aged 14 - 19 yrs this class develops a wide range of skills in street dance, breaking, locking and popping.

A high energy class that continues to build on the student's style, strength and stamina, through structured exercises and routines.

A very popular class, with limited numbers so book early to avoid dissapointment!

Beginners are welcome, just bring enthusiasm, attitude.....and a HUGE bottle of water!

 

Advanced Show group  
 

This class is an advanced class for those students aged 13 upwards, wishing to develop their skills in a range of dance styles. It is an opportunity for student to seek assistance with exams and audition prep.

Through 6 week modules students study a number of dance styles and techniques including: contemporary, musical theatre dance, latin fusion, bollywood amongst others.

Every student's choreographic skills and creative ideas are also actively encouraged and nurtured within this class.

Dance In-Tension regularly showcase the students own choreographic work in showcases and events.

 

 
 

Students from our Intermediate and Senior level classes are invited to audition for our Advanced Crew.

This class is for those who are keen to really stretch their potential and ability, and are able to commit to the strict rehearsal schedule.

To be a part of this class each student must have reached a certain level in strength and stamina, to allow them to safely execute the technique required in the complex routines and choreography.

The Advanced Crew will regularly be performing at charity events, showcases and competitions across the region.
